History
Crane Away Ltd is managed and run by the Hill family, who are based in rural Dorset. Crane Away purchased its first lorry back in 2012, and the business has steadily built thanks to its fantastic loyal customers. In 2019, the family decided to further branch out and acquired a Hiab lorry, opening up a lot more possibilities for the company and its customers. This addition to the fleet, combined with extensive industry knowledge, means the team know they can get the job done, whatever the challenge. Carl and Katy work hard to meet customer expectations. Plans for the future are driven by the customer's needs and their desire to provide a professional yet personal service you can trust.

Carl Hill
Carl Hill has been running his own business since 2005 and has been in the haulage industry for more than 15 years. Born and raised in Evesham, Worcestershire, he spent every opportunity with his dad in the milk tanker and helping out on his family’s farm. Here his strong work ethic, sense of teamwork and most importantly a can-do attitude was formed.
Carl gained experience working for other hauliers and has covered everything from cattle lorries to specialist low loader services. Carl is a certified operator of many different types of plant including diggers, dumpers and road-surfacing equipment. He also has a fully up-to-date slinger and banksman certificate.
In 2023, Crane Away Ltd wanted to further expand the customer offering and Carl began the extensive training required to offer safe and efficient Class 7 (Radioactive material) Dangerous goods transport. After more than a year of study, he graduated as a Radiation Protection Supervisor in Spring 2024.
Katy Hill
Katy is now a director of Crane Away Ltd, office manager and the friendly voice you’ll hear on the phone. Your job satisfaction is her primary concern, always on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
